Vitamins D3, K2, and A: It’s all in the combination!

Combination supplements containing vitamins D3 and K2 exist for good reason: both vitamins work closely together to support bone health. Vitamin D3 supports the absorption of calcium from food in the intestines. Vitamin K2 then activates specific proteins that ensure calcium is incorporated into bones and teeth rather than deposited in blood vessels or other soft tissues.

But it is only with vitamin A that the synergy between vitamins D3 and K2 is complete: Together with vitamin D3, it supports important processes in the body—from bone health to the immune system. Vitamin D3 from natural sources

Plants, such as mushrooms, provide vitamin D in the form of vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol), which, according to studies, the body is less able to absorb than vitamin D3 derived from animals. Lanolin, the natural wax found in sheep’s wool, is, however, an excellent source of vitamin D3, as it contains bioidentical vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol), which is also produced in human skin. Furthermore, lanolin is a natural byproduct of sheep shearing. Shearing is an essential part of sheep husbandry, as the warm wool can otherwise lead to health problems during the summer months. Professional shearers also ensure a stress-free and injury-free shearing process, so that no animal has to suffer during the procedure. For these reasons, we use sheep wool grease as a natural and renewable source of vitamin D3.
