A good source of vegan omega-3 fatty acids: High-dose omega-3 fatty acids (DHA and EPA) from the microalgae Schizochytrium sp. provide you with essential fatty acids in their natural triglyceride form. A patented antioxidant protection system, Qualitysilver®* (mixed tocopherols and rosemary extract), protects the sensitive fatty acids from oxidation. Omega-3 Fatty Acids

  • EPA and DHA contribute to healthy heart function when consumed in daily amounts of 250 mg or more.
  • When taken daily in amounts of 250 mg or more, DHA helps maintain healthy brain function and vision.
  • A daily intake of 200 mg of DHA by the mother—in addition to the recommended daily intake for adults (250 mg of DHA and EPA)—contributes to the normal development of the eyes and brain in the fetus and in breastfed infants.
  • A daily intake of 100 mg of DHA contributes to the normal development of vision in infants up to 12 months of age.

The recommended daily dose is 3 capsules taken with plenty of liquid at the start of a meal. In accordance with legal requirements, pregnant and breastfeeding women should take only 1 capsule per day.

The microalga Schizochytrium sp. is a marine microalga that, due to its high lipid production—particularly the polyunsaturated fatty acids docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA)—is an excellent source of these fatty acids for the human body. It is widespread in its natural habitat in marine environments—primarily in coastal and plankton-rich areas. For use in dietary supplements, it is cultivated and fermented in specialized onshore facilities.

Especially for vegans and vegetarians, For those who do not wish to obtain valuable omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil, the essential fatty acids derived from the microalga Schizochytrium sp. in the form of algae oil are an excellent choice. This algae is specially cultivated in France at onshore facilities and tested for contaminants and pollutants.

Our Pro Omega Vegan in capsule form is also a convenient alternative to liquids when traveling Fish oil products, since it does not need to be stored in the refrigerator. For preventive care, we recommend 3 capsules daily, which provide 1,125 mg of EPA and DHA. Those who want to specifically raise their omega-3 levels can take 5 capsules daily—equivalent to 1,875 mg of EPA and DHA—which is comparable to the dosage of Pro Omega Ultra.
The capsules themselves are made from tapioca starch, which many people are familiar with from healthy cooking. They also contain no carrageenan.
