Colostrum — the natural power cocktail

Colostrum, also known as first milk, foremilk, and, in cows, colostrum, is the highly nutritious milk that newborn mammals receive from their mothers during the first few days of life. It is rich in proteins, enzymes, vitamins, minerals, and growth factors. Above all, however, it contains numerous antibodies, including all the immunoglobulins that a newborn needs to develop its own immune system.

Cow colostrum is considered particularly valuable and well-tolerated by humans. Its composition is nearly identical to that of human colostrum, though it is many times more concentrated. This is because, unlike humans, calves are born without any protection against infection, since the placenta of cows (as well as that of other ruminants, pigs, or horses) does not allow antibodies to pass to the embryo.

Particularly nutrient-rich: colostrum from the first 12 hours

Colostrum is essential for the survival of a newborn calf. Its concentration of protective substances is therefore highest during the crucial first 12 hours after birth.

It is precisely this colostrum, which is particularly rich in nutrients, that is contained in Pro Agalostrum. To ensure that the high-quality proteins are not lost through heating, the colostrum is sterilized using cold sterile filtration and gently freeze-dried.

… and the calves?

Don't worry: They get first dibs on the udder. Mother cows generally produce much more colostrum than their calves need. Only the surplus may be used for colostrum products.
